81 YEARS YOUNG & STILL GOING STRONG!

Big day at Footscray! We have the Pathway program for the NW zone, so 3 Under 8 games, 4 Under 10 games, plus the Under 14s & 16s and of course the seniors. The 1sts will restore some pride when they take on Southern Districts and the 2nds will play for top spot on the 3rd grade ladder. Wyndham City will play at our ground as well, so all up 12 rugby matches in Footscray, covering all age groups and skill levels. Be there, you don't want to miss this Super Saturday in Footscray!

Juniors: Under 8's & 10's train on Thursdays from 5:30pm, while U12's, U14's & U16 train both Tuesday and Thursday night from 5:30pm. Every boy or girl is welcome to join, so just show up next training night, or:

Players who have not payed the final installment of this year's fees or who still have outstanding fees from last year will not be permitted to play. So pay whatever you're due and play your heart out!

 

Our clubrooms have had a make-over by a group of dedicated hard workers. Fresh coats of paint, new photo galleries and trophy cabinets and a very thorough clean-up have turned our rooms into a monument to 80 glorious years of community rugby. A special mention should be made for the Ladies, who have been going at it for weeks. The council has put in new carpet, a very fitting present for our 80th anniversary!

 

More good news: the north side of the carpark at our homeground has been redeveloped. From a dustbowl in summer and an icy swamp in winter to a drained, sealed and landscaped carpark. And parking is still free on weekends, so 3 cheers for the Maribyrnong council! Let's hope there is still money in the budget to transform the southern end soon. Footscray RUFC has been established since 1928 supporting both 1st and 2nd Grade teams, Colts and Juniors, winning several premierships and producing 5 Wallabies along the way. We are located at the Henry Turner reserve, next to the VU and Footscray Park.

The last few years Footscray has played in both A & B grade Grand Finals and was awarded the trophy for "Highest Try Scoring Victorian Rugby Team in 2006".

We welcome any new players that would like to come down for a run this season, whether they're a former Wallaby or Rugby novice.

Public Transport:

Bus lines 409 (Yarraville - Highpoint) and 472 (Williamstown - Moonee Ponds) pass by our ground (get off on Farnsworth Ave), but only once every 40 minutes in either direction. From Footscray Station you can also take tram 82, get off at the Droop Str / Ballarat Rd intersection, cross Ballarat Rd and walk into Farnsworth Ave. After the bend the road drops down to the river and you'll see our clubrooms at the bottom on your right.
