Welcome to Footscray Rugby Club, a dedicated member of the Victorian Rugby Union and one of the oldest Victorian Rugby Union clubs.

82 YEARS YOUNG & STILL GOING STRONG! 

Training for season 2010 has started! Get down to our club every Tuesday and Thursday before 6:30pm. Bring runners, swimmers, a towel and be prepared for alternative training locations (e.g. Williamstown Beach, VU swimmingpool) as well as our homeground. No boots allowed on our ground yet!

Desperately seeking Susans, Sonias & Sheherazades! And every other woman who lives in our area and wants to play rugby! We are working on a Women's XV this year, so contact Wayne Hunt (0409859682) if you're interested. Previous rugby experience welcome, but definitely not mandatory.

Our Junior Summer Program starts Wednesday the 3rd of February and will continue untill the 10th of March! From 6pm sharp there will be TRY rugby sessions for every kid (from 6 'till 17 years old) who wants to give Rugby a TRY! Food & drinks available for young and old. 2010 looks very promising for our juniors. We should have complete Under 12's and Under 14's at least, possibly Under 16's and Under 18's and we expect many new players in the Under 10's and under 8's groups. Any child willing to give our game a try, come down to our club as soon as junior training starts again this year. Stay tuned for the Big Junior Registration Day, with games and food and lots of fun.

Check the resource library for your match and point stats for 2009. If you used to play in the "Good Old Days" check if your stats live up to your stories at the bar in the Footscray 1967 to 2005 stats sheet, also in the resource library.

Our clubrooms have had a make-over by a group of dedicated hard workers. Fresh coats of paint, new photo galleries and trophy cabinets and a very thorough clean-up have turned our rooms into a monument to 80 glorious years of community rugby. A special mention should be made for the Ladies, who have been going at it for weeks. The council has put in new carpet, a very fitting present for our 80th anniversary!

YES! The  entire carpark is now sealed, drained and landscaped! No more need for gumboots in winter or dustmasks in summer! You rates at work (if you live within the Maribyrnong council)! Also, check out how brilliantly green the grass on the Tony Dodemaide oval is. It may well be Victoria's best community rugby ground!                                             

Footscray RUFC has been established since 1928 supporting both 1st and 2nd Grade teams, Colts and Juniors, winning several premierships and producing 5 Wallabies along the way. We are located at the Henry Turner reserve, next to the VU and Footscray Park.

 The last few years Footscray has played in both A & B grade Grand Finals and was awarded the trophy for "Highest Try Scoring Victorian Rugby Team in 2006".

We welcome any new players that would like to come down for a run this season, whether they're a former Wallaby or Rugby novice.

Public Transport:

Bus lines 409 (Yarraville - Highpoint) and 472 (Williamstown - Moonee Ponds) pass by our ground (get off on Farnsworth Ave), but only once every 40 minutes in either direction. From Footscray Station you can also take tram 82, get off at the Droop Str / Ballarat Rd intersection, cross Ballarat Rd and walk into Farnsworth Ave. After the bend the road drops down to the river and you'll see our clubrooms at the bottom on your right.
