Welcome to Footscray Rugby Club, a dedicated member of the Victorian Rugby Union and one of the oldest Victorian Rugby Union clubs. 82 YEARS YOUNG & STILL GOING STRONG! Both our 1sts and 2nds are in the Grand Finals! The 1sst made it a bit of a regulation win, giving their opponents no chance right from the start. The 2nds though made it a truly memorable win, scoring a try on full time and sealing the win with the conversion from the touch line, and after the ref let them retake it due to noisy interference from desparate Eltham players. The Ladies made light work of their opponents, even though they were severely undermanned, or should that be underwomanned? Courtney & Zerlina both scored 4 tries! They can secure their GF place in the preliminary final at Harlequin next Saturday. The U12s & U16s bowed out, but we're still very proud of their achievements this year. As the teams were gathered during the season, it was good to see them in the finals. The U12s were a particularly impressive sight, we started the season with half a team, but ended it with more players than jumpers! Next time we'll order a bigger set, 23 is not enough! Check out the photo in the gallery of all the kids following the Blue Piper (Gary) to the registration desk. There is still enough happening at our club the coming weeks. Coming Saturday we will host the inaugaral Purchase Cup match between the Melbourne Chargers (aka Footscray's 3rds) and the world famous Sydney Convicts. Kick off at 12 noon.
